A constellation of ideas

About

I’ve been a software engineer for over a decade and have worked across a wide-range of different domains and tech-stacks. I’m currently leading the software engineering function at Switch2 Energy.

I have a strong interest in type-theory and type-driven development, and think they are foundational ideas that software engineers should seriously exploit and engage with to build serious software. I think true functional programming is one of the most successful and well-attested architectural patterns in software engineering. As such, I have a lot of experience in languages like Rust and Haskell. I think users expect and deserve fast, performant, safe, and correct software - all of which have been somewhat neglected by mainstream software engineering.

I love building and creating engineering culture along with small and autonomous teams. I think people work best when they are autonomous, have skin in the game, and aligned in values.
